Glenwood Springs, Colorado — The Colorado River District’s State of the River meetings are a spring tradition in western Colorado. So far in 2024, River District staff has partnered with water organizations across the district to host six of these public meetings in the communities of Montrose, Ridgway, Craig, Steamboat Springs, Meeker, and Grand Junction. Over 430 people have attended to learn, network, and share questions and concerns about the water issues facing western Colorado.
There are four more events scheduled in communities along the mainstem of the Colorado River through the end of May. While each agenda will vary slightly, presentation topics include climate and hydrological forecasts; a look at the high-stakes conversations between Colorado River Basin states and the Bureau of Reclamation about the future of operations of Lakes Mead and Powell; highlights of local water projects; and other basin-specific interests.
Each event is free, open to the public, and includes a light dinner. Registration is required.
