Glenwood Springs, Colorado — On Tuesday, May 23, the Colorado River District and partners at the Blue River Watershed Group will host the Summit County State of the River meeting at the Silverthorne Pavilion in Silverthorne, CO. State of the River events offer West Slope residents the opportunity to learn more about their water, seasonal hydrology outlooks, regional water issues impacting their communities, and how the River District is working to protect Colorado’s most precious resource. These 2023 events will also welcome several special guests.
“We’re excited to welcome back Director of the Colorado Water Conservation Board and Colorado River Commissioner Becky Mitchell to our Summit County State of the River,” said River District Director of Public Relations, Marielle Cowdin. “And we are looking forward to hearing Senator Dylan Roberts share insights about his work to support West Slope water priorities during the 2023 Colorado legislative session.”
Commissioner Mitchell will provide the State’s perspective on how the Bureau of Reclamation’s Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Study (SEIS) may impact Colorado water users at the Summit County event and how Coloradoans can provide input.
All State of the River events are free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required. The Summit County program is the eighth in this spring’s nine State of the River events hosted by the River District. Over 570 people across the West Slope have already attended similar events in Montrose, Moffat, Routt, Mesa, Rio Blanco, Garfield, and Grand counties.
