Scott and his wife Lori are both members of long-time multi-generational Colorado families. They reside in Grand Junction, Colorado and spend free time with their family, enjoying the outdoors and the public lands.
Scott studied Business at Mesa and Fort Lewis Colleges, and attended the Colorado Police Academy. He received his law degree from St. Mary’s School of Law.
Scott’s professional service includes Police Officer, Volunteer Fireman and having a Law practice. He was elected to the Colorado State House of Representatives for five terms and was Chairman of the Agriculture, Natural Resources and Energy Committee, and Majority Leader.
Scott was elected to the United States Congress for six terms, and served on the Ways & Means Committee, was Chairman of the Healthy Forest (Sub-committee), and Natural Resource Committee. He was the Executive Director of the Associated Governments of Northwestern Colorado (AGNC) and is currently serving his second term on the Mesa County Board of Commissioners.
McInnis serves on several private corporate boards, has family business interests. and has received many honors and recognitions over the years for his service.
Mr. McInnis was appointed to the Colorado River District Board of Directors in August of 2021, and his term will expire in January 2023.
